Description
Our neighborhood dogs want to know why it is taking so long to make our off-leash area that was approved by the city last May. Work was to begin July 2nd. We have been told that the delay is due to "awarding the contract" It involves some fencing, gates and a garbage bin. We are tired of driving our pets to other areas so we are not ticketed by the doggy police (Thanks Mayor Ford)
It is almost winter and no work has been started. What gives??

What I'm trying to figure out is WHY when the city knew they lost the contractor at the end of June--why wasn't it until September they even bothered to open the bidding up for a new one?
After I got hold of the Star they sent form letters saying it would be in by the end of October. I'm there every day and there's been NO progress and it is now October 20th and in the middle of the rainy season. If it is not built by October 30th it is highly likely it won't be built this year at all.
Nor have I heard a word back from the so-called Dog Association regarding their process, nor has there been a *single public meeting* so clearly, the "East York Dog Association" isn't representing the people who take their dogs to Stan Wadlow or organizing with the City to comply with their agreement. I spent 5 months attempting to contact our so-called representing Dog Association with no response until recently.
BTW they aren't going to give us a garbage bin since the City trucks can't drive into the area. There will be no lighting [a hazard for women] and no water supply. All of which, should be what a public dog association would normally be either fighting for, or raising funds to get.
